The Alabama Association of School Business Officials recognizes members' professional achievements through a variety of awards programs.
Morton-Smith Award
The Alabama Association of School Business Officials presents an annual award for an outstanding school business official. The award is appropriately named after the late Robert L. Morton, former Assistant Superintendent of Administration and Finance for the Alabama State Department of Education and David Smith, long-time school business official and past Executive Director of AASBO.
Robert Morton contributed significantly to the AASBO organization in its early years, and David Smith is a visionary leader who, through his tireless work ethic and commitment to mentoring, brought the organization to where it is today.
The Morton-Smith Award is a prestigious honor that recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to their profession. AASBO aims to celebrate the best that the profession of school business management has to offer through the Morton-Smith Award.
